This was a digital painting that I made myself and had printed as Christmas gifts for both of my younger sisters. I have no clue how they'll like it, if at all, as it is still nearly a week before Christmas as I type this.
Started out simply sketching, not exactly sure what direction I was going to go with the piece for sure. All I knew is that I wanted to draw the whole family, including my sisters' significant others and my dad (who has passed away). I wanted it to be relatively cartoony while appearing somewhat painterly in a way.
As the sketch progressed, I started thinking about evolving my style and also adding in a number of the pets that my sisters own. This turned out to be one of the most emotionally difficult pieces I have ever made once it got time to draw my dad... turned out not to be so easy as I had to study every inch of his face and draw it several times over before getting it just right.
