Environments
Originally planned to be simply a more refined creature design of a monster that I created in a recent piece, then slowly became a bit more complex with a whole environment and story unfolding within the world my creature inhabits. A warrior journeys down into a mysterious cave where she finds the remains of an ancient society down below the surface, as well as giant claw marks on the cave walls.
"Persephone's Odyssey"
Persephone: The Goddess of Springtime journeys down into the Underworld w/ Hekate & Hermes, to visit her long-awaited beloved; Hades. Arriving at the gates of the Underworld, greeted by the Cerberus.
I wanted the entire piece to be one of my most surreal & ambitious artworks, while also infusing elements of horror. Letting classic body-horror films such as John Carpenter's The Thing or David Cronenberg's entire filmography inspire the artwork seen here, while blending it with Greek Mythology. I think I've accomplished exactly that & it's been a lot of fun. I hope you all enjoy!

Attempting to learn from my first attempt at a whimsical forest environment and expand in new ways. I really loved the process of creating these two backgrounds as they are vastly different from what I've grown accustomed to making artistically. Even though this was only meant to be used as a background for the subjects that have been excluded from this scene, I feel this digital painting stands on its own. I'm fairly proud of this.
Technically this is an unfinished piece, but I still enjoyed the background enough to show off.
My first attempt at every creating a forest environment before & I think that even though it's not fully rendered, I like how it turned out!
This environment art was only to provide as a background for the actual subjects that have been excluded from the scene in this version.
That little extra dose of Halloween that I needed to get me by until Autumn finally arrives! Inspired by mainly Fall time vibes, while also classic stop-motion classic movies, such as The Nightmare Before Christmas, Coraline, and ParaNorman! I simply love the Fall and Halloween and I am extremely impatient; thus, this piece was born.

New year, new painting!
Haven't really dabbled in environmental paintings in a good long while, so I thought I'd just play around randomly to see what I came up with and... well... this is the result!
It all started off with a photo I took back in Arizona of what appeared to be a mushroom cloud in the distance behind some farmland and desert. Built off that minor detail and what we have here is a full blown alien invasion.
In the beginning I had no clue what I was doing or where I was going to go with this piece, but it slowly evolved and I had a lot of fun painting this. Especially when it came to including some homages and Easter eggs of classic sci-fi films I grew up with; such as Aliens, Tremors, Predator, Terminator, RoboCop, Godzilla, Starship Troopers, etc.
Thank you and I hope you enjoy!

Props
I actually wasn't planning on creating a sword or any prop currently, but I was working on an environment piece where the hero needed a weapon. I became inspired to give her a sword, not just any sword though, I wanted to make something much more eye-catching. Originally, I was playing with the idea of a very neon futuristic approach ala Blade Runner aesthetic for the sword, but then it rapidly became much more rustic and seemingly handcrafted from scraps found. The design is heavily inspired by the sword of Emily Blunt's character from the film Edge of Tomorrow (Live.Die.Repeat) as well as a sword from World of Warcraft called "Thunder Fury Blessed Blade of the Windseeker."
Prop Concept: "Helmet".
